Finally, Not Perfect but Unique
So here I am, finally doing a blog on my very own website about my images for the world to see. I think I have been lost for too many years now trying to make it perfect, something that I now realize is unattainable. My mom said to me recently, ‘Wouldn’t you rather be unique than perfect?’
My answer….ABSOLUTELY! So, unique it is!
This all started when I was very young and envied the kids in school that could draw or paint absolutely anything. To me that was expression of their souls and how they saw the world. I wanted to be an artist just like them. To me, though, an artist was someone who created something on paper or other media from their imagination, not simply conveying what was already there like I do with my lens.
I have always seen the beauty in the detail in almost everything, and thought everyone else saw it too. I didn't realize that so many didn’t, until people started to take notice of my photos and wondered where I saw the things that I captured through my lens. At this point, I just wanted to learn more about photography, so I could share more with even better quality photographs.
While in college taking my photography degree, I realized that I could transform my photographs into something more, images with my impression, from my imagination, to create art. I was told that I am an artist, but through the lens of my camera. I finally did it. I'm one of them, but in my own unique way.
So, going forward, I would like to add an image a day, which will be added to the galleries on my website and my weekly blog images will go into the ‘featured’ gallery. Thank you for taking the time to read my first blog, and if you liked it please share and if you have any feedback, I'd love to hear from you.
Take the time to look around you and see the beauty that we are fortunate enough to have around us everyday. It’s really there…..just look.
