I am a Canadian-born professional photographer and artist who now resides in Farmington, Minnesota for most of the year and in the Whiteshell Provincial Park in Manitoba, Canada for the rest.
I have been taking photos for most of my life, but in 2014 I finally attained my Degree in Photography from Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount, Minnesota. While studying my craft, I came in 2nd place representing Minnesota in Skills USA, where one of my photos, "Dad", won "Best in Show".
Originally, my attention to detail helped me to find beauty everywhere through the lens of my camera. From reflections in water droplets to landscapes and everything in between, I was able to capture my vision in a photograph.
My newest creations came to me in 2018 during some transitional moments in my life. I now use my creative vision and knowledge to express myself through my images by digitally enhancing my original photographs to bring out more vibrant colors and to create more lines and curves. By doing this I put a bit of twist on reality or I completely change them to something unknown and abstract. I've been told by many at my shows that looking at them takes them to a happy place.
With the combination of the beauty around me, the feelings that come from within, and a little imagination, it brings my photos to a new place, a place of abstract and of healing. This transition has shown me a new style that includes before, during and after, and has become my new passion where I lean on my emotions to create my art.
Printing them on high white gloss metal, canvas or greeting cards, depending on the subtleties of the image, is what really brings each one to life. The medium truly is the final ingredient to what makes my work unique and special.
